Long distance referral /Télé-recommandation

Shortly after starting my blog in 2006, I started surfing for other transator blogs in Cyberspace and found a few who sounded interesting.  Specifically, a person I will call F. in one of the small countries in Europe.  We became acquainted with each other reading our respective posts, exchanging email regarding world events or questions that we had on subjects of mutual interest.

En 2006, quelque temps après m’être lancé dans les blogues, j’ai commencé à parcourir le cyberespace à la recherche de traducteurs. J’en ai trouvé plusieurs qui étaient intéressants, en particulier une personne nommée F. dans un des petits pays d’Europe.  Nous avons ainsi fait connaissance en lisant nos billets respectifs, en échangeant des courriels sur l’actualité ou en discutant de sujets qui nous intéressaient tous les deux.

I was amazed recently to receive an email from a translation agency in another country who contacted me on F.’s recommendation. They needed some help that I could provide. Turned out that the project was quite interesting and that I was able to provide the expertise they were looking for. The assignment went well and the client paid on time.

Ce fut donc une très agréable surprise de recevoir récemment un courriel d’une agence de traduction dans un autre pays d’Europe qui s’adressait à moi sur la recommandation de F. L’agence avait besoin d’une aide que j’étais en mesure de lui donner. Le travail s’est avéré très intéressant et j’ai pu fournir au client l’aide dont il avait besoin. Tout c’est bien passé et j’ai été payé comme convenu.

End of story?  Not really, I am still amazed by  F.’s action and show of trust. You can bet that I will keep my ears peeled for any work that I can direct a client from here  that falls into  my translator friend’s  expertise – that is the least that I can do.


Est-ce la fin de l’histoire ?  Pas vraiment, car je continue à être épaté par l’initiative de F. et de la confiance manifestée par cette personne. Je me promets donc de demeurer très attentif au cas où un client ici aurait besoin des talents de mon collègue d’outre-mer - c’est la moindre des choses.
